As actors, so many of us strive for those moments when we can “lose ourselves” in the role we are playing, the story we are creating, the magic of the theater. But the legendary Uta Hagen says: it is so much better to “find yourself in the role.”
This class is based on the principle that everything you need to be a great actor is already inside you. Great acting starts with your own unique connection to the role. On the stage, what you think is your greatest limitation can actually be your greatest strength.
In the class, we’ll explore a variety of acting techniques. Improvisational exercises are used to connect students to their instinctual talent and to enhance confidence. Students are encouraged to use their personal life experience and their unique point of view in their work on stage.
After two classes, scenes and monologues are hand-picked to suit and challenge each student and assignments are given to begin bridging the gap between the actor and the character. After several more weeks of rehearsing in class, the scenes will be performed in a final showcase performance for friends and family. for more info or to register call 917.583.4447 or email rosengrene@yahoo.com Elizabeth Rosengren is an actor, writer, director and producer with over ten years of professional experience in theater and film.
